Virgil seems pretty short, especially when he stands next to his friends, who are all over 6 feet and Literal Trees. However it is hard to determine how tall he actually is, because he spends most of his time hunched into himself and leaning one way or the other.
Whenever the others would manage to drag him along to any sort of party, or get together, one of the others (usually Roman) would eventually tell him to ‘do the thing’, meaning to unfold himself and stand up all the way.
It wasn’t so much that he gained that much height, he was still only 5′5″ but he made sure to add some little tricks to give the impression that he was taller than he actually was.
The first part was of course the complete change from his usual posture, shoulders back, chin up, and hooking his thumbs into his pockets instead of shoving them deep in his hoodie. Next, he made sure to lean a bit closer into other peoples personal space than he would have normally while he smirked and made eye contact.
Since all of this was completely different from how he usually held himself the extra inches he grew seemed much more impressive.
The only reason Virgil keeps doing it at all, when he would normally complain about them acting like he was a performing monkey was that he greatly enjoyed how the rest of them reacted when he turned his smirk onto them for a moment before letting himself fold back down into what he was comfortable with.
Roman got startled and flushed, and briefly avoided eye contact, Patton just got giggly before he would clap a hand over his mouth, and Logan didn’t react much usually besides and handful of rapid blinks.
However on one momentous occasion they had been at a formal event, and when Virgil had straightened his vest and smiled at Logan he could almost see the error messages popping up, before Logan quietly excused himself as Virgil tried to hide his laughter.
