I was noticing something during my screenshotting escapade. It is likely an obvious thing. But notice this: When Patton mentions bottling up and pushing back his feelings as the way he used to cope (I don’t remember the exact wording), Logan asks, “Did it work?” He looks intrigued. Sort of… clinical. Like he’s analyzing possibilities, if that makes sense.
But then Patton gives a firm, “No.” Now look at Logan’s reaction:
He looks visibly taken aback. Like he didn’t expect Patton’s answer. Like it completely catches him off guard to hear that bottling up feelings and repressing them isn’t an appropriate way to deal with them.
Logan genuinely thinks the way he’s dealing with things is the right way to go. Which might seem obvious. But Logan’s just… you can see how Logan progressively seems to get more and more unsure throughout the video. It seems like he feels like everything he’s known, the way he’s been coping for God knows how long, might be wrong. And we all know how terrified Logan is of being wrong.
I think it’s brilliant writing and character development to see that Logan is coming so close to maybe admitting he’s not right about everything and that for once he’s wrong. I think that would be such a relief for him, even if he doesn’t realise it. To just admit he’s wrong about something for once.
