the more time went on tho the more emotionally manipulative their parents would become; refusing any show of affection, “I let you live under my roof so you show me respect and don’t you dare talk back” and the whole “I put you on this earth so you owe me” kind of deal. It was a shitty environment but they could roll with it as best they could at the time.

When Virgil was born was when it really went downhill from there, both parents getting into fights constantly and Roman often had to step in to get his parents to calm down before they could hurt anyone.

Roman got the brothers out of there the first night their mother threw a plate at Virgil.
